Since it opened in 2000, this classy, contemporary restaurant has been the venue of choice for the island’s young glitterati. Its wide beachfront site — which includes a dramatically spotlighted bar, private pavilions, terraces and waterside deck — feels like a swanky private club. The Japanese-inspired food is light, exquisitely fresh and elegantly presented by a New Zealander, chef Philip Davenport. The wine list is one of the most interesting in Bali, with a good selection from California, Chile, France, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. At nightfall, the beautiful people begin to gather.
