When you’re a teenager or a young adult, you’ll have all the time in the world to play sports, hike, and go on long road-trips, especially when there are not many obligations. But as we get older, we’re stuck at the office while typing away on our computers. Naturally, when we’re not doing anything physical, this can lead to a sedentary lifestyle, causing complications to our flexibility.

As everyone does know, having a sedentary lifestyle is not suitable for your flexibility. Low flexibility can lead to various ergonomic problems, such as back problems—a poor form when exercising can also cause minor and major injuries.

Simple and Fun Activities

So what’s an excellent solution to this problem? Investing some time and effort in simple critical exercises can help us improve our flexibility.

In addition to improving your flexibility, yoga is also known for being beneficial to individuals with chronic illnesses and disabilities. So even if you’re in a wheelchair, you can still perform yoga asanas! It’s recommended that you bring a less-clunky folding wheelchair if you try yoga with a group.

Stretching

What’s the first thing that people do when they wake up? Stretching your muscles right after a good night’s sleep usually brings in oxygen to our body while also warming up your muscles for exercise, which can lower the risk of getting injured during vigorous physical activities.

Stretching is by far one of the simpler exercises that almost everyone can do. Even for individuals who do have physical disabilities, stretching can still be done.

Most of the time, people do stretching before and after workout sessions with an interval of around 20 to 30 minutes. It’s essential to focus on different muscle groups, especially those that belong to:

  • Legs
  • Hips
  • Deltoids
  • Abdomen
  • Quads
  • Hamstrings
  • Biceps
  • Triceps

If ever you’re planning on jogging, you might have to focus on stretching your leg muscles; it’s as straightforward as that.
